Get “A-Head” with Education Classes

Get AheadLooking for a way to get ahead?  Take some of our upcoming education course to help improve your knowledge and your business.  The St. Tammany HBA Education Classes are a great, low cost way to learn more while meeting the education requirements of the Louisiana State Licensing Board for Contractors (LSLBC).  So be sure to get “a-head” and take advantage of one or more of these education opportunities.

August 29 – Social Media and Building a Better Business through proper Risk Management:

  •  Social Media- 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. – Learn how to use Social Media, such as Facebook and LinkedIn to grow your business. Instructor: Kenny Elliott, CGP, CSP, CDPE of Neoserve, Inc. 3 CE for Builders
  •  Building a Better Business through proper Risk Management – 1pm-4pm – This course will cover perennial business topics such as Contractual Risk Transfer, Customer Service, and Buyer Relations. Instructor: Mike LeCorgne, CGA, CGP, CSP, CAPS of 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty. 3 CE for Builders
  •  Location: NOLA Lending Group, 830 W. Causeway Approach, Mandeville, LA 70448 (across from the Shadows Subdivision)
  •  Cost: $25 per session or $40 for both for HBA Members. $50 per session or $80 for both for non-members. Lunch is provided for all day registrants.

Oct 25 – Annual State of the Housing Market Seminar:

  •  8:00 a.m.-12:00 noon – 4 CE for Builders
  •  Learn about the economic situation in our area from some of the industry’s top experts.

November 8 - First Aid, CPR and Blood Born Pathogens:

  •  9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. – 6 CE for Builders
  •  According to OSHA guidelines, employers must ensure prompt first aid treatment for injured employees, either by providing for the availability of a trained first aid provider at the work site, or by ensuring that emergency treatment services are within reasonable proximity of the work site. OSHA has long interpreted the term “near proximity” to mean that emergency care must be available within no more than 3-4 minutes from the workplace. Don’t put your employees, subs and business at risk. Sign up for the First Aid, CPR and Blood Born Pathogens class with us at the Red Cross. At the end of the course, attendees will be certified in both CPR and First Aid.

December 6-  Jobsite Safety:

Online Classes:

Can’t make it to any of our live classes? Then take an online course with NAHB. You can now take them anytime and anywhere and each class also counts for 6 CE for Builders.  Available classes are Customer Service, Basics of Building, and Effective Marketing on a Shoestring Budget.  Visit nahb.org/elearning for more information and registration.

Builders must earn 6 hours of CE each year and even if you have a multiyear license.  Those that hold a residential license AND a commercial license in at least one of the following categories are exempt from CE requirements: Building Construction; Highway, Street and Bridge Construction; Heavy Construction; Municipal and Public Works Construction
