
The Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered his country’s strategic nuclear forces to excessive alert, because the Ukraine disaster escalates.
He told defence chiefs it used to be thanks to “aggressive statements” by the West, amid long-established condemnation of his invasion of Ukraine. The announcement would no longer imply Russia intends to make spend of the weapons.
The US straight condemned his option calling it an “unacceptable escalation”.
Recently Mr Putin had warned that “whoever tries to hinder us” in Ukraine would survey penalties “you enjoy never seen for your history”. Those words had been broadly interpreted as signalling a risk to make spend of nuclear weapons if the West stood in his capacity.
The Russian President ordered his defence minister and the chief of the navy’s celebrated workers to position the nuclear deterrent forces on a “special regime of wrestle accountability”.
